Baseball Drops Both Games in Doubleheader against Tabor
Hillsboro, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Baseball team wrapped up their weekend series with a doubleheader against Tabor College on Saturday, resulting in a 22-11 loss in the first game and a 26-1 loss in the second game. The Spire's overall record is now 10-27 and 4-18 in the KCAC.
Game One
After the Spires took game one of the weekend series on Friday, the Blue Jays exploded with their offensive production on Saturday. Tabor got on the board early in the first inning, taking a 2-0 lead. The Spires responded with an impressive six-run second inning, highlighted by Caleb McClellan, Keaton Herron, Noah Parra, and Bryce Turner, who all drove in runs to take a 6-2 lead. Later, a homerun by Jordan McClellan and a two-RBI single by Caleb McClellan helped extend the Spire's lead to 9-6. This, however, led to an eleven-run inning for the Blue Jays in the fifth. Saint Mary only scored two more runs for the rest of the game as Tabor ran away with the 22-11 win. Jack Knutson went four-for-four from the plate with an RBI and four runs scored.
Game Two
Tabor picked up right where they left off in game two, scoring ten runs in the first two innings, putting the Spires in a tight spot. Saint Mary had a chance to score in the third inning with a runner in scoring position but could not produce any runs. The Blue Jays continued to extend their lead as the game went on, as it was not until Aaron Osorio hit a home run in the top of the fifth to put the Spires on the board. The home run did not light a spark for USM as Tabor won game two by a score of 26-1.

The Spires will travel to play Baker University at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in Baldwin City, Kansas.
