
Women's Wrestling Falls to Ottawa in Close Dual
Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Wrestling team hosted Ottawa University for a team dual on Thursday, resulting in a 25-24 loss. The Spires are now 6-6 overall in team duals.
Alexsys Jacquez (109) got the first win of the night for the Spires, beating her opponent by a technical fall. Angie Rediger (116 ) gave Saint Mary their first lead of the night due to an open 116 weight class by Ottawa. After losing the 123 weight class, Araya Boday (130) beat her opponent by fall to give the Spires a 14-11 lead. Two consecutive wins for the Braves gave them a comfortable 24-14 lead over Saint Mary. The Spires finished the night with two straight wins of their own; Amelia Frounfelter (170) and Lessly Sandoval (191) beat their opponents by fall. However, it was not enough to overcome the Brave's lead.
