Spires Struggle To Find A Spark
The University of Saint Mary baseball team came up short in a doubleheader versus Friends University, falling 12-2 and 15-0.
Saint Mary begins the 2021 season at 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the KCAC.
Friends University started off the first inning with a three run homerun by David Pewenofkit, 3-0. But in the top of the fourth the Spires seemed to find a spark and bring in two runs - one from a ground out RBI from Kawika Hubbell and a RBI single to left field by Damian Lomeli, to make the score 6-2. The Spires struggled to figure out their offense as they were held to just two runs and lost, 12-2.
In the second game for the Spires, Friends controlled the action most of the way. Saint Mary still struggled to find their offense, as they were shutout by the Falcons, 15-0.
Lomeli led the offense going 2-5 of the night with an RBI.
