Spires Struggle Offensively To Ottawa

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary baseball team came up short to Ottawa, 4-2.

Saint Mary is now 1-16 overall and 1-6 in the KCAC.

The Spires had a pitching battle with Ottawa as both teams struggled to put runs on the board. Ottawa was able to put runs on the board first in the third and fourth inning to lead, 2-0. The Spires were able to capitalize in the top of the fifth thanks to an RBI single by Steele Sadler to score Francisco Villarreal to tie things up, 2-2. Ottawa was able to answer back with another run in the bottom of the fifth while the Spires struggled with pitching location, 3-2. The Spires played stellar defense but struggled with their offense and couldn't find a spark to put them back in the game. Ottawa was able to hold the Spires to just two runs to win, 4-2.

Villarreal lead the offense with three hits.
