Bio

Taylor Calvert will enter his third year as the OC for the Spires. From Los Angeles, Calif. and a graduate of Warren High School. Taylor went to Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Calif after high school, where he played Strong Saftey as a 14-game starter and 04’ Captain. Taylor came to USM in the fall of 05’ where he was 3-year Varsity lettermen and one of a few players in USM history to start a game on both sides of the ball. He earned his BA in Business and Sports Management in 07’ and his MA in Education in 11’. Coach Tay served as an assistant coach at USM as soon as his playing days were done, 5 seasons in multiple roles (QB, WR, DB). In his time as a coach here, he was part of 2 top 20 NAIA offenses, coached 13 All KCAC selections, 2 NAIA All-Americans.

After the 2011 season Taylor moved to Denver, Colorado as Head Football coach at Aurora Central high were he served for 3 seasons, 12’ to 15’. From 17’ to 19’ he was the Head Coach at Gateway High School in Aurora Colorado and also serving as an assistant for 3 seasons at 3 different schools. In his time as a high school Head Coach and OC, Coach Calvert was a 2018 John Lynch foundation award winner, sent 48 scholar shipped student-athlete to school, coordinated 3 top 10 offenses, had 2013 League POY, 3 first team QBs 53 All-league selections, and set 50+ school records at 4 different schools. Taylor with his wife Britney (USM BS 08’) and two sons Crue (8) and Camden (5) and will to serve the Saint Mary community through FAMILY, FOOTBALL, and FAITH.
