Senior Day Showdown Against Rockhurst

The University of Saint Mary men's swimming team put up a strong fight on Senior Day but fell to a tough NCAA Division II opponent, 100-150. Despite the loss, several standout performances highlighted the meet.

The meet began with a solid effort from the men's 400-yard medley relay team of Gavin Wagner, Blake Jorgens, Matt Hall, and Ian Lucas, who finished 2nd with a time of 3:36.92. Wagner continued to impress, taking 1st place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.05.

Jorgens had an outstanding day, securing 2nd place finishes in both the 50-yard freestyle (21.68) and the 100-yard freestyle (48.47). Ian Lucas joined him in the 50-yard freestyle, earning 3rd place with a time of 22.32.

Senior Lucas Sandoval also contributed, placing 2nd in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:19.58, while Jake Huisman finished 3rd in the 100-yard backstroke (58.75). Mayson Thiebaud earned 2nd in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.76, and Luke Taylor added another 2nd place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:09.66.

The Spires capped off the meet with a 2nd place finish in the men's 200-yard freestyle relay, where Hall, Wagner, Huisman, and Jorgens posted a time of 1:29.98.

While the team came up short in the overall score, their strong individual performances showcased the talent and resilience of the University of Saint Mary men's swimming team. With key seniors leading the way, the Spires look to build on their momentum into the postseason.
