Spires Men's Tennis Dominates Oklahoma Wesleyan on the Road

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The University of Saint Mary Spires men's tennis team delivered a commanding performance on the road, defeating the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles 6-1. The Spires showcased their strength and determination, securing key wins across both doubles and singles matches.

The day started strong with the Spires taking two out of three doubles matches. Evan Maritz and Nils Dueppe set the tone early, defeating their opponents 6-3 at #1 doubles. At #2 doubles, Carlos Grimaldi and Nudem Koyuncu battled hard, ultimately clinching a 7-5 victory. The #3 doubles match saw Leyton Ross and Jack Contrucci secure another win for the Spires, though the final score was not available at the time of reporting.

Moving into singles, the Spires continued their dominance. Carlos Grimaldi fought valiantly at #1 singles, ultimately falling in a hard-fought tiebreaker (3-6, 7-5, [5-10]). However, the Spires quickly rebounded, securing wins in the remaining five singles matches. Evan Maritz (6-4, 6-3), Nudem Koyuncu (6-4, 6-2), Jack Contrucci (6-3, 6-0), and Nils Dueppe (6-3, 6-1) all delivered strong performances, showcasing the depth and talent of the Spires roster. Ryan Langdon won his match by default, solidifying the Spires' overall victory.
