Men's ITF Hits Five NAIA Standards Over the Weekend

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Indoor Track and Field team competed at two separate sites this weekend, the Bearcat Invite hosted by Northwest Missouri State and the Husker Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. 

 

Bearcat Invite

Robert Huebert had two top-fifteen finishes in the 600 and 800-meter events, taking 11th and 13th place. Liam Neidig hit an NAIA A standard in the 1000m event, running a 2:27.82 and finishing in first place. His time in the event is also the sixth fastest in the country. In the same event, Jonah Godina took ninth place with a time of 2:32.06. Tommy Baker had another top-ten finish for the Spires, running a 4:19.33 in the mile event. In the field events, Donel Jack hit an NAIA A standard in the triple jump with a mark of 14.35 meters. 

 

Husker Invitational

Neidig hit another national standard in the 3000m event, running an 8:32.29, fast enough for an NAIA B standard and a 10th place finish. The weekend's fourth and final national standard came from Dominick Beine in the 5000m event. He ran a 14:51.76, hitting the NAIA B standard and taking fifth place.

Saint Mary will compete in the Indoor Gorilla Classic hosted by Pittsburg State University starting Friday in Pittsburg, Kansas.
