Women's Basketball Nearly Defeats Eagles

Leavenworth, Kansas – The University of Saint Mary women's basketball team slipped to Oklahoma Wesleyan University Wednesday night in Ryan Sports Center, in a tough game that came down to the last shot.

The Spires are now 4-14 overall and 3-12 KCAC.

GAME FLOW
The Spires looked to avenge a loss suffered earlier in the season and came out ready to play. It was a back and forth game throughout the entire first half. Lexi Schamberger, who ended with 15 points, hit a big three to give the Spires a five-point halftime lead. Saint Mary led by as many as nine before Oklahoma Wesleyan inched their way back to steal the lead. Saint Mary had a chance to either tie or take the lead with under two seconds left in the game. Danielle Cassady inbounded the ball to Sienna Brown and her shot came up short as the buzzer went off. Despite a disappointing ending, Brown came close to another double-double as she ended with 17 points and eight rebounds.
