
Women's Soccer Falls to Friends University
WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary women's soccer team fell on the road Wednesday evening to Friends University, 3-0.
Saint Mary is 2-10 overall and 2-5 in KCAC play. Saint Mary sits in 10th place in the conference, on the outside looking in at a potential playoff spot in the conference tournament.
GAME FLOW
Saint Mary had some trouble early on as the Falcons scored two goals in the first seven minutes of the match. Friends was able to hold the Spires to zero shots in the first half as the Spires trailed 2-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Justine Brown-DaCosta and Amanda Martin each took shots four minutes apart. However, Brown-DaCosta's shot was just wide of the goal and Martin's shot was saved by the Falcons goalkeeper, Lauren Ferguson. The Falcons would tack on a third goal with 15:49 remaining to take a 3-0 lead.
Martin would take one more shot in the match, while Claire Wilhoite also took one. Both shots were saved by Ferguson as the Falcons held on for the win.
