
Spires Pick Up 2-1 Win Over McPherson
LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary women's soccer team took the win over McPherson College 2-1 at Berkel Memorial Stadium this evening.
GAME FLOW
In the first half the Spires had the ball the majority of the time. The Spires had 19 shots in the whole game with 11 shots on goal. McPherson had only five shots in the whole game and only one shot on goal.
The Spires scored both goals in the second half, one by Molly Devine in the 63rd minute and another by Emily Wilson in the 77th minute. McPherson answered back with a goal by Emma Singleton at the 67th minute. At the beginning of the second half, the Spires took back-to-back shots coming from Meghan Fletcher and Natasha Webster leading up to the goal by Devine. Then Justine Brown Da-Costa missed a shot, which was saved by the Bulldogs goalkeeper, leading up to Wilson's goal. The Bulldogs had a red card by Singleton in the last five minutes of the game and the Bulldogs had to play with a man down.
