Spires fall to LSU-Shreveport

In a slow-paced matchup at home, the University of Saint Mary fell to LSU-Shreveport, 3-0. The game remained scoreless through the first half, with both teams struggling to find opportunities. Saint Mary's goalkeeper, Marisol Vargas, was a key player in the first half, making crucial saves to keep the game level going into halftime.

The second half saw LSU-Shreveport take control of the momentum. Gisell Jimenez opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, followed by a second goal from Diana Godines just four minutes later in the 56th minute. LSU-Shreveport pressed with a total of 13 shots on goal, while Saint Mary continued to rely on Vargas, who finished the game with 9 saves. Tensions ran high, with a total of six yellow cards issued, including three red card, adding to the physicality of the match. Despite Saint Mary's defensive efforts, the offensive pressure from LSU-Shreveport proved too much to overcome.
