Women's Soccer fall to Friends 1-0

LEAVENWORTH, KAN. - The University of Saint Mary women's soccer team fell 1-0 in a tightly contested home match against Friends University. The game started off quickly, with Friends' Lina Willemsen scoring the decisive goal just two minutes into the game. Despite the early setback, the Spires fought hard throughout the match, maintaining a strong defensive presence.

Both teams produced similar offensive numbers, with Friends taking 13 shots and Saint Mary managing 12. Marisol Vargas was once again a standout for the Spires, making 7 key saves to keep the game within reach. However, despite their efforts, the Spires were unable to find the back of the net.

With the loss, Saint Mary now holds a 5-4-1 overall record and a 3-2 mark in conference play. The team will look to bounce back as they continue conference action Saturday at Kansas Wesleyan.
