
Spires Hit Five National Standards at Husker and Bearcat Invites
Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Indoor Track team competed at two separate sites this weekend, the Bearcat Invite hosted by Northwest Missouri State and the Husker Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Bearcat Invite
Gretchen Raney had a podium finish in the 60m event with a time of 7.64, which was fast enough to hit the NAIA A standard. In the 200m event, Lexi Wardlow and Raney finished in the top fifteen, taking 11th and 13th, respectively. Carly Holadia had a top-ten finish in the 800m with a time of 2:21.48. The Spires had five runners finish in the top ten in the 1000m event. Carlie Gregg ran a 3:04.40, finishing first, with Josie Tyrrell right behind her in second place. Shannen Dorn, Jessa Cassity, and Holadia had the other top ten finishes in the event. In the field events, Carissa Martin took seventh place in the triple jump event with a mark of 10.61 meters.
Husker Invitational
Maddy Walter-Sherretts hit an NAIA B standard in the mile event, running a 5:06.45 and finishing in the top 20. In the 3000m event, Reagan Hiebert ran a 9:55.84, taking eighth place and hitting an NAIA A standard. Her time in the event is also the ninth fastest in the country. Riley and Reagan Hiebert took second and third and hit NAIA A standards in the 5000m event, with three-tenths of a second separating them.
