
Women's Outdoor Track and Field Hits Four Standards Over the Weekend
Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Outdoor Track & Field team was split between two meets this weekend, competing in the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open.
Drake Relays
The Spires went four for four on the weekend at the Drake Relays, hitting NAIA standards in all four of the events they competed in. Raegan Hiebert started off the meet with a seventh-place finish in the 5000m event with a time of 16:58.72 and hitting an NAIA "A" standard. Riley Hiebert followed her sister's performance with an NAIA "A" standard in the 3000m steeplechase event with a time of 10:38.30, winning her heat. The 4x100 relay team of Samantha Colson, Zaira Spencer, Lexi Wardlow, and Gretchen Raney took seventh place in their preliminary race, running a 47.27 and hitting an NAIA "A" standard. To end the meet, the 4x400m relay team of Carly Holadia, Abigail White, Carlie Gregg, and Maddy Walter-Sherrett hit the fourth NAIA "A" standard with a time of 9:16.86 and a fifth-place finish.

Raney had the best finish of any Spires at the open this weekend, taking second place in the 100m event with a time of 12.02 seconds. In the 200m event, Colson finished in third, finishing the race in 25.83 seconds. The following top ten finish came in the 1500m event; Shannen Dorn ran a 4:49.65, which was good enough for eighth place. Hannah Showalter had another strong showing in the 5000m event, taking ninth place with a time of 17:47.09.
In the field events, three Spires had top-ten finishes. Paige Birch tied for fifth place in the high jump event with a mark of 1.40 meters, and Jordan Miller-Knuckles took eighth in the long jump event with a mark of 4.86 meters. In the javelin event, Keely Barnard hit a mark of meters, her personal best of the year.
