Spires Shine Bright at ESU Midwest Classic 2025

EMPORIA, KAN. – The University of Saint Mary (Kan.) track & field team delivered a series of impressive performances at the ESU Midwest Classic 2025 over the weekend, showcasing both individual talent and strong teamwork. Several Spires left their mark on the competition, setting the stage for continued success as the season progresses.

On the men's side, Karlos Humphreys was a standout performer. The junior speedster blazed to victory in the 400 Meter Dash, crossing the finish line in a blistering 49.05 seconds. Humphreys also secured a strong 6th place finish in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 22.13. Kamorious Tisdale also represented St. Mary (Kan.) in the 100 Meter Dash, finishing 17th in 11.24 seconds.

The women's team also had a day filled with notable achievements. Gretchen Raney led the charge, securing a runner-up finish in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 24.91 and earning a hard-fought 3rd place in the 400 Meter Dash in 57.52 seconds. Teammates Deslyne Cooper (25.85) and Keiyah Cole (25.95) also contributed in the 200 Meter Dash, finishing 8th and 9th respectively. In the hurdles events, Jordyn Miller-Knuckles placed 5th in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 14.81, while Jane Duteil finished 7th in the 400 Meter Hurdles in 1:11.62.

The highlight of the day for the Spires came in the 4x100 Meter Relay. The St. Mary (Kan.) squad demonstrated exceptional teamwork and speed, crossing the finish line in first place with an impressive time of 47.61 seconds. This victory underscores the depth and talent within the women's program.
