Spires Sweep Sterling on Senior Night

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - In a thrilling final home conference match, the University of Saint Mary volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a commanding 3-0 sweep over Sterling College on Saturday, November 9. The Spires took the sets decisively (25-16, 25-20, 25-9), pushing their season record to 18-12 overall and 8-5 in the KCAC.

Saint Mary set the tone in the first set with a balanced attack, led by senior Madison Folsom's 11 kills and .345 hitting percentage. The Spires posted a .265 hitting percentage in the opening set, with strong showings by Ainsley Gardner and Devyn Ford, each contributing vital kills that overwhelmed Sterling's defense.

The Spires maintained their momentum in the second set, overcoming some mid-set errors to pull away 25-20. Ava Bojanski's 10 digs and three aces kept Sterling on its heels, while Courtney Standley distributed the ball well with 10 assists, setting up Gardner and Folsom for effective kills.

Saint Mary closed out the match with a dominant third set, hitting .333 while limiting Sterling to a negative hitting percentage (-.139). Gabby Kurle contributed key service aces, and Renata Dominguez added blocks that sealed the sweep.

The Spires now turn their attention to the KCAC Volleyball Quarterfinals, where they will face Evangel on Tuesday, November 12.
