Women's Wrestling Receives Vote in Recent National Poll

KANSAS CITY, MO. - The University of Saint Mary women's wrestling program continues to make waves in the NAIA as the Spires are currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Women's Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 poll. 

National Rankings and Individual Standouts

USM’s growing success is bolstered by several wrestlers earning national recognition in their respective weight classes. These standout athletes include:

  • Eyvori Jacquez (103 lbs): Ranked 11th nationally with 41 points, Jacquez’s skill and determination have consistently propelled her to strong performances.
  • Alexsys Jacquez (110 lbs): Ranked 10th in the nation with 51 points, Jacquez’s tactical expertise and tenacity make her a top competitor.
  • Amelia Frounfelter (160 lbs): Ranked 14th nationally with 31 points, Frounfelter’s resilience and strength on the mat continue to impress.

These individual rankings in addition to the depth of the Spires with: Maci Pearson (131 lbs), Rachel Dismuke (124 lbs), and Allison King (145 lbs) should see continued success throughout the remainder of the season. 

Program Leadership and Development

Under the guidance of the coaching staff, the Spires’ women’s wrestling team has embraced a culture of discipline, growth, and teamwork. The program’s rapid development has positioned them as a contender in the highly competitive Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and on the national stage.

Conference and Upcoming Challenges

The Spires compete in the demanding KCAC, which features several nationally ranked programs. Facing top-tier competition has prepared Saint Mary for continued success as they aim to climb higher in the rankings. With a strong foundation and a roster of nationally ranked wrestlers, the team is poised for significant achievements as the season progresses.

As the season unfolds, the University of Saint Mary women’s wrestling team remains focused on maintaining their momentum and achieving greater success. With standout performers like Eyvori Jacquez, Alexsys Jacquez, and Amelia Frounfelter leading the charge, the Spires are well-positioned to make a lasting impact.

The Spires will look to continue their rise in the rankings as they prepare for upcoming competitions this weekend on the road against Avila University on Friday.
