Spires Fall in Game One to Panthers

The game started fast for Saint Mary as Brendan Roop hit a solo home run in the second inning. The Spires extended their lead in the third inning as Keaton Herron hit an RBI double that scored Caleb McClellan, putting pressure on the Panthers and making the score 2-0. York responded to the early deficit by putting up three runs in the bottom half of the third inning to take a one-run lead.

York continued their offensive production in the bottom in the fifth. The Panthers extended their lead with a two-run, then followed the fifth an unearned run in the seventh to take a 6-2 lead. This gave the Panthers what they needed to close the game out, while Saint Mary was held scoreless for the rest of the game. Herron went three for four at the plate with an RBI today to lead the team.
