Spire Win Rubber Game 10-2 Over Swedes

Lindsborg, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Baseball team wrapped up their weekend series with a single game against Bethany College on Sunday, resulting in a 10-2 win and overall series win. The Spire's overall record is now 18-28 and 10-19 in the KCAC.

Brendan Roop got things started for the Spires early with a two-RBI double that led to Noah Para hitting an RBI single. Saint Mary took advantage of a Swede error on the same play to take a 4-0 lead.

Later in the third, Jack Knutson scored an unearned run to extend the Spire lead. Bryce Turner and Roop drove in runs in the top of the fourth inning to continue the Spire offensive production.

The bottom half of the inning showed life for the Swedes as they scored two runs to make the score 7-2.

This was not enough as another run in the fifth by Keaton Herron as well as two more runs in the ninth, gave USM all they needed to win, 10-2.

Caleb McClellan went three for four at the plate today with an RBI and three runs scored, while Andrew Richardson earned the win on the mound.
