Baseball Falls to Coyotes in Regular Season Finale

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary baseball team host the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes for their regular season finale on Sunday, resulting in an 8-4 loss.

The Spires were able to hold the Coyotes scoreless throughout the first three innings, thanks to starter Andrew Richardson giving up just two hits and striking out two batters. In the top of the fourth, Kansas Wesleyan got on the board with a two-run home run.

Jack Knutson was walked in the bottom half of the inning that drove in a run to cut the KWU lead in half.

The Coyotes got two more runs in the sixth and looked to build another large lead like in the doubleheader the day before. However, the Spire defense held and tied the game at four after capitalizing on multiple errors by Kansas Wesleyan.

Saint Mary gave up two runs in the seventh, a run in the eighth, and two more in the ninth, losing by a score of 9-4.

The Spires ended the season with an overall record of 18-32 and 10-23 in the KCAC.
