Baseball Drops Wednesday Matchup to William Woods

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Baseball team hosted the William Woods Owls on Wednesday for a non-conference game, resulting in a 9-6 loss for the Spires. The Spires are now 14-12 overall and 8-6 in conference play.

 

Cale Fields started on the mound for the Spires, giving up no runs during the first inning. The Spires had the first runs of the game in the bottom of the second inning, taking a 4-0 lead. The rally started with a Brenden Roop single to left-center field, and Kruz Wahwahsuck followed with another single down the right-field line, which allowed Roop to advance to third. The Owls fought back in the top of the fourth inning, scoring four runs to tie the game. After the fourth inning, the Owls found a consistent rhythm on offense for the remainder of the game, scoring in each inning except the top of the eighth, winning 9-6.
