Spires fall to Tabor in Game Two of Their Mid-Week Series

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Baseball team hosted Tabor College for game two of their mid-week series on Tuesday, resulting in a 19-3 loss. The Spires are now 16-22 overall and 10-16 in conference play. 

 

After giving up two runs in the top of the first, Saint Mary responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Daniel Martinez drove in Caleb McClellan with an RBI double to get things started. Later in the inning, Bryce Turner grounded out to the shortstop, which allowed Martinez to score, tying the game at two runs apiece. However, Tabor had a quick answer, driving in 13 runs over the next three innings to take a significant 15-2 lead over the Spires. Saul Vazquez-Alvarado scored the third and final run of the day, taking advantage of a passed ball to make it a 15-3 ball game. Tabor got four more runs across the plate in the sixth and seventh innings, making the final score 19-3.
