Women's Flag Football Can't Keep Up With Braves

Leavenworth, Kan.– The University of Saint Mary Women's Flag Football team hosted Ottawa University on Wednesday, resulting in a 58-0 loss. The Spire's overall record is now 0-8 and 0-8 in the KCAC.

After the Braves began the game with a 10-play, 66-yard drive that resulted in a touchdown, Saint Mary was forced to punt on the ensuing possession. Ottawa then took full advantage with a quick 3-play drive that resulted in another touchdown to extend their lead to 14-0.

A promising drive for Saint Mary was again cut short by the stout defensive play by Ottawa, leading to another score for the Braves. Ottawa was then able to score two more times to take a 33-0 lead heading into halftime.

A promising drive for Saint Mary to begin the half was then killed by an interception on the Ottawa 16-yard yard line that was returned for a touchdown.

The following drive then resulted in yet another interception that was returned for a touchdown to give Ottawa all the momentum they needed to roll 58-0.

Jerrica Johnson caught eight passes for 35 yards and had 25 yards rushing, while Emilee Cruz recorded five tackles on the day.
