Spires Drop to Kansas Wesleyan 86-62

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Basketball team hosted the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes Saturday, losing 86-62. the Spires are now 4-9 overall and 0-7 in the KCAC.

Luke Mackey and Cam Southern had six of the first eight points for Saint Mar to open the game. The Coyotes had a 12-point run to start and held a ten-point lead five minutes into the game. A layup from Deshaud St. Martin put the Spires within seven and made the score 21-14 as the midway point of the half approached. Saint Mary stayed within striking distance as the half winded down. Braylen Duncan then had six points in the last minute and a half to make the score 49-42 heading into the locker room.

Southern and St. Martin combined for the first six points of the second half. However, KWU increased their offensive output and built a 14-point lead with ten minutes left in the game. The scoring continued for the Coyotes as they amassed a 20-point lead with just under four minutes to go in the second half. Saint Mary was unable to recover and the game ended with Kansas Wesleyan winning by a score of 86-62. St. Martin led the Spires with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Southern was right behind him with 14 points.
