Men's Basketball Drops to Bethany on the Road

Lindsborg, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Basketball team played against Bethany College tonight, resulting in a 88-62 loss. The Spires are now 6-16 overall and 2-14 in conference play.

After Bethany went on a 10-2 run to begin the game, Saint Mary found their grove. Jayson Luse and Cam Southern hit big shots to pull the Spires within six points. After Luke Mackey made a three, the Swedes went on another scoring run, this time jumping out to a 28-14 lead. With under five minutes to go in the half, Bethany again went on a 9-0 scoring run to close the half, making the score 48-21.

The Swedes continued their offensive pressure throughout the entirety of the second half. Deshaud St. Martin and Braylen Duncan hit consecutive shots for the Spires down the stretch, but Bethany continued to score, going on three different extended runs. The Spires forced 12 turnovers and gave up 16 as the Swedes ran away with the 88-62 win. St. Martin led the team with 15 points, while he and Joey Schultz both had six rebounds.
