St. Martin Has 19 Boards in Senior Day Win

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Basketball team hosted Bethany College on Wednesday, resulting in a 73-55 win. The Spires are now 16-11 overall and 12-9 in conference play. After the game, four seniors were honored for their hard work and dedication to the team over the years. 

 

Things stayed close throughout the first half against the Swedes, but a three from Blake Chadwick gave Saint Mary a one-point lead. However, a scoring run from Bethany gave them a seven-point lead with ten minutes to go in the first half. A three from Jordan brown ended the Swedes scoring run and sparked the Spire's offense. Deshaud St. Martin eventually tied the game at 30 with five minutes left in the half. Things remained close down the stretch, but a free throw from Tre Alexander gave the Spires a two-point lead heading into the break. 

 

The Saint Mary offense put things into high gear in the second half. The Spires went on a 14-2 scoring run in the first ten minutes of the half to solidify their lead over the Swedes. A layup from Bryce Johnson made it a 21-point game at the ten-minute mark of the half. Saint Mary was able to shut the door on Bethany, stopping two comeback attempts by the Swedes and securing the 73-55 senior day win.
