Spires Fall on the Road to Columbia College

Columbia, Mo.- The University of Saint Men's Lacrosse team traveled to take on Columbia College in their first KCAC match-up, resulting in a 23-4 loss. The Spires are now 0-5 and 0-1 in the conference.

Columbia got on the board first in the two minutes of play, but Saint Mary answered with a goal of their own three minutes later when Carter Hale found the back of the net and tied the game up at 1-1. The Cougars ended the first quarter by scoring the next six goals of the game. 

 

Saint Mary opened the second quarter with a goal from Garrett Carter to make the score 7-2 in favor of Columbia. The Cougars again responded with a scoring run to keep the Spires at bay and took an 11-2 lead heading into halftime. Columbia picked up right where they left off and held the Spires scoreless in the third quarter while putting up eight goals to make the score 19-2. Three minutes into the final quarter of play, Carter got his second goal of the night, making it 19-3. Tucker Yeley scored the last goal of the night for Saint Mary, and after four more goals by the Cougars, the game ended in a 23-4 loss for the Spires.
