Spires Fall at Home to Mount Vernon Nazarene

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Lacrosse team hosted the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars on Thursday, resulting in a 20-2 loss. The Spires are now 0-6 and 0-1 in the KCAC. 

 

A strong first quarter from goalie Landry Murley helped Saint Mary stay close to the Cougars after giving up an early goal. Just past the five-minute mark, Garrett Carter scored to tie the game up at 1-1. Both teams were held scoreless for the rest of the quarter. Mount Vernon opened the second quarter with three goals in three minutes. 

 

The Cougars continued to score at will, putting up six more goals to make the score 9-1 as the first half came to a close. In the first eight seconds of the third quarter, Mount Vernon scored to take a 10-1 lead. The scoring continued for the Cougars as they scored seven more goals throughout the third. Carter got the Spire's last goal of the game with just over four minutes left in the final quarter to make the final score 20-2.
