Men's Lacrosse Falls to Warriors in KCAC Opener

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's lacrosse team hosted the Midland Warriors to open KCAC play on Sunday, resulting in a 12-6 loss. The Spires are now 1-7 overall and 0-1 to start conference play.

Saint Mary jumped out to an early lead, as Aiden Brace got the Spires on the board four minutes into play. Bryce Vigil added to the score, finding the back of the net twice in the early stages of the game. Goalie Landry Murley held the Warriors to two goals in the first quarter, helping to preserve the Spire's narrow lead. However, in the ensuing quarter, the Midland offense outscored the Spires four to one and entered halftime with a short 6-4 lead over Saint Mary.

A goalless third quarter from Saint Mary nearly put the game out of reach for the Spires, who were down by five goals with 15 minutes left to play. Brace scored two more goals in the final quarter of play, but it was not enough to rally the team for a complete comeback, falling 12-6.
