Men's Soccer Get Sixth Straight Win in North Newton

North Newton, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Soccer team captured their sixth straight victory as they took on Bethel College Wednesday night, winning 4-0. The Spire's overall record is now 10-3-3 and 7-2-2 in conference play, heading into Saturday's matchup against Friends University.

Saint Mary started the game on their heels as the defense stepped up and did not allow any of the numerous Thresher shots into the net. The Spires responded with plenty of their shots on goal that never found the back of the net as halftime approached with a 0-0 tie.

The Spires got on the board early in the second half after Paul Trejo scored to make it 1-0. After a foul on Bethel, Saint Mary took advantage of a free kick as Romario Harding scored for the Spires to make it a 2-0 game. Just two minutes later, Harding scored again for Saint Mary, assisted by Alvaro Mercado, to make it 3-0. Ten minutes after that, Anthony Rangel assisted Guilherme Caldas with a goal that gave the Spires all they needed to wrap up a comfortable 4-0 win.

Defensively for the Spires, Come Grieu had seven saves on the day, while Rangel and Caldas led the team in shots.
