Men's Soccer Gets 1-0 Win Over Panthers

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Soccer team hosted the York Panthers on Saturday, resulting in a 1-0 win. The Spires are now 3-4-2 overall on the year and 2-2 in the KCAC.

Saint Mary controlled possession and stayed on the attack to begin the game, with Anthony Rangel nearly getting the Spires on the board. After continuous attempts on the net, USM broke through in the 30th minute when Rangel found Guilherme Caldas for his third goal of the year. As time expired in the first half, Alec Sharff made a diving save to keep the Spires in front.

In the second half, Saint Mary continued to put pressure on the Panthers with shot after shot. Caldas nearly had another goal to put the game away with under ten minutes to go, but the shot hit the post. Another strong save with time running low helped preserve the Saint Mary lead, winning 1-0. Rangle's assist was his eighth point on the week for the Spires.
