Spires Fall to Falcons 2-1

Wichita, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Soccer team traveled to play the Friends Falcons on Wednesday, resulting in a 2-1 loss. The Spires are now 3-5-2 overall overall and 2-3 in KCAC play.

 

Friends started the scoring in the fifth minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Spires responded with a shot by Ramiro Vasquez in the seventh minute. Vasquez also had a shot in the seventeenth minute. Saint Mary tied the game fifteen minutes before halftime with a goal by Abdul Omar. The assist came from none other than Anthony Rangel. It was Omar's first goal of the season. 

 

The Falcons held the Spires offense at bay for the remainder of the game. With just over ten minutes to go, the Falcons scored and took a 2-1 lead, which proved to be the deciding goal. Although the Spires outshot the Falcons, they were unable to capitalize on the opportunities. Vasquez and Anthony Rangel led the Spires offense while each taking three shots.
