Men's Soccer Ties With Blue Jays

Hillsboro, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Soccer team traveled to play the Tabor Blue Jays on Saturday, resulting in a 2-2 tie. The Spires are now 4-5-5 overall and 3-3-3 in the KCAC.

 

Tabor struck first, with a goal in the first ten minutes of the contest to make it a 1-0 game. Saint Mary had a quick response as Anthony Rangel found the back of the net to knot things up at one. Goalie Alec Scharff kept the score tied with multiple saves as time ran out in the first half. 

 

The Spires continued to put pressure on the Tabor goal in the second half with multiple shots on goal. Rangel broke through again to give Saint Mary the 2-1 lead over the Blue Jays. Both teams went back and forth for the remainder of the half. With only three minutes left, Tabor scored to make it a 2-2 game to force a tie. Scharff had seven saves on the day.

The Spires will be on the road to play Oklahoma Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
