Spires Bested by Prairie Wolves

Lincoln, Neb.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Swimming team traveled to compete against Nebraska Wesleyan in a team dual on Saturday, resulting in a 149-116 loss. 

 

The Spires had six swimmers or relay teams finish in first on Saturday. Gavin Wagner was the first Saint Mary swimmer to win their event, taking first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.59 seconds. Wagner also had a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke and helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team come in first. Mayson Thiebaud had two first-place finishes on the day for Saint Mary, winning the 100-yard breaststroke event in 1:01.83 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:20.37. 

 

In the 50-yard freestyle event, Blake Jorgens helped his team out by taking first in the event with a time of 21.60 seconds. The Final individual win of the dual came from Ian Lucas, who took first in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.51 seconds. The final event Saint Mary won was the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Lucas, Wagner, Jorgen, and Matt Hall. The team secured the win by completing the event in 1:26.94.
