Men's Wrestling Finished in Third at Falcon Invite
Park City, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Wrestling team traveled to compete in the Friends Invite, resulting in a third-place finish behind Central Missouri and Grand View.
In the 125 weight class, Brody Gee finished in second place overall after beating his first two opponents by tech fall and winning by fall in the semifinal round. Gee lost in the championship round 7-2 by decision. Roman De La Cruz also had a solid performance on Saturday, finishing third in the 133 division. De La Cruz won in the first round by fall with under two minutes to go in the first round and won by decision in his next two matches, making it to the semifinal round.
The Spires had two wrestlers, Hartwell Taylor and Freddy Barajas, reach the championship round in the 141 weight class. Taylor took the 141 weight championship, winning in a 7-3 decision. Ryker Blackburn was the final Spire to reach a placement match. Blackburn went through the lower half of the bracket to get to the third-place final, winning his last three matches by fall.
