Spires Fall to Wildcats in Regular Season Finale

Baldwin City, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Wrestling team traveled for a team dual against the Baker Wildcats on Saturday, resulting in a 23-19 loss. The Spires are now 10-5 in team duals this year.

 

Saint Mary got off to a quick start, winning the first three matches. Brody Gee (125) won his match due to an opening in his weight class. Freddy Barajas (133) followed with a win by technical fall, and so did Hartwell Taylor (141), who won by major decision. After a loss in the 149 weight class, the Spires were up 15-3 on the Wildcats. Josey Jernegan (157) helped the Spires bounce back with another win by major decision to make it 19-3. However, Baker went on to run the table, winning the next five straight matches for the 23-19 win.
