Softball Ends USSSA Space Coast Tournament on Seven Game Winning Streak

Viera, Fla.- The University of Saint Mary Softball team finished the USSSA Space Coast Tournament on Friday, defeating Lourdes University, 6-0. The Spires are now 14-7 on the season.

The Spires got on the board first to start the game as Megan Brinkman hit an RBI single up the middle, scoring Briana Solis. Later, Sadie McWilliams was hit by a pitch and advanced Jessica Strandlund home. To cap off the inning, Brittnee Wimbish hit an RBI single that extended the Spire lead to 3-0. Saint Mary stretched their lead in the third inning as Victoria Gutierrez scored on an error to keep the momentum with the Spires.

Later in the fifth inning, Audrey Spellman grounded out to second base, which allowed Abigail Kudym to score. Saint Mary was able to seal the game, scoring one more run off an Allyson Dias RBI double to make the final 6-0. Starter Jordan Reynolds went the complete game, giving up four hits and no runs with four strikeouts. After losing game one of the tournament, USM rattled off seven straight wins to put an exclamation mark on the Space Coast Tournament.
