Spires Fall to Tabor in Second Meeting

Hillsboro, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Basketball team traveled to take on Tabor College in a mid-week matchup, resulting in a 61-38 loss. The Spires are now 10-8 overall and 6-6 in the KCAC.

Saint Mary had a slow start and found themselves down 7-2 with six minutes left. Two quick threes from Daija Planas and Paige Pendley got the Spires right back into the game, making the score 11-10. Kaylani Hoskin drained a jump shot just before the half, putting Saint Mary within two points heading into the second quarter. Tabor continued the offensive output and extended their lead to ten points as the half came to a close.

Jerrica Johnson got things going for the Spires in the second half with a jump shot and a three to bring Saint Mary within eight points just past the five-minute mark. As the third quarter winded down, Planas and Pendley made a pair of jump shots, but the Blue Jays still held a ten-point lead. The Saint Mary offense stalled in the final quarter of play while Tabor kept up the presser on offense. Pendley scored the Spire's final points of the night with a jump shot making the final score 61-38 in favor of the Blue Jays.
