Women's Basketball Wins Fourth Straight for Best KCAC Start in Program History

Newton, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's basketball team took on Bethel College Threshers on Saturday, resulting in an 85-63 win. The Spire's overall record is now 6-2, and they have had the best start to conference play in program history, starting 4-0.

Keely Barnard and Tanea Sims had layups to help the Spires start the game with a lead. Each team made shots to keep up with one another, and a layup from Paige Pendley and a three by Demi Aamold made it a 17-12 game. The Spires gained more offensive momentum by extending their lead to 47-33 heading into the break.

Going into the second half, Saint Mary looked to retain the momentum they had built in the first half. Pendley and Barnard each made threes to bump the lead up to 15. Bethel was not able to keep up with the offensive output of the Spires and found themselves down 20 after another three from Aamold. Saint Mary kept their foot on the gas for the final quarter and finished with an 85-63 win.

Alanis Delgado finished the game with 17 points, while Sims ended with ten rebounds.
