Salina, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Basketball team took on Kansas Wesleyan University on Wednesday night, resulting in a 74-69 win. It was a closer game for the Spires this season with only a five-point difference, yet they were still able to win. The Spires now have an overall record of 20-5 and an impressive conference record of 17-2.

Saint Mary has now eclipsed 20 wins this season, making it the second year in school history to reach that mark. They now also hold the record for the most conference wins in program history.

Kansas Wesleyan started the game with a slight lead, forcing the Spires to fight back early in order to retake the lead. The Spires capitalized on the Coyote's turnovers and scored at every opportunity. Saint Mary also drew penalties and took advantage of those free throws. Paige Pendley and Katelynn Ostronic each made four free throws, adding to the team's 17 points from the line. Both teams were separated by just three points throughout most of the contest, making the entirety of the game exciting.
