Women's Soccer Falls to Evangel 3-0

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's soccer team took on Evangel University at home Friday night and lost 3-0.

The first half went back and forth between the Spires and Mustangs, with both teams creating chances. Later in the half, the Spires began to press offensively with a shot from Morgan Young nearly giving Saint Mary the lead going into halftime. After the Spires scoring chance, the Mustangs had an opportunity of their own and scored with under five minutes to go in the period, giving Evagenl a 1-0 lead.

Saint Mary came out of halftime confident and continued to create scoring opportunities. The Mustangs got another goal five minutes into the half after an unlucky clearance landed at the feet of an Evangel forward and gave them a 2-0 lead. As the period continued, Saint Mary had multiple set peice opportunities but was not able to capitalize. Evangel scored one more time with 20 minutes to go making the score 3-0. The Spires made one final push with five minutes to go, and almost scored on a header from Alexis Roan, but it was just saved by the Evangel goalie.

Head Coach Justin Seever had this to save about Friday's Match, "we kept pushing the whole second half, so that was great to see and had some dangerous looks. It was a learning experience for all of us, and we are looking forward to getting back on the training field Monday."
