Spires Complete the Senior Day Comeback, Winning 3-2

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Soccer team played the Friends Falcons Saturday, resulting in a 3-2 win. After the game, six seniors were honored for the dedication and hard work they had given to the program. The Spires finished the season with an overall record of 6-10-1 and went 6-5-1 in the KCAC, winning six of their last eight to make the conference tournament.

The game started fast for the Falcons, scoring a goal within the first two minutes of the game to give them the 1-0 lead. Just fourteen minutes later, Friends scored again to take a controlling 2-0 lead over the Spires. The rest of the half featured great defensive play by both teams as the game went into halftime with Saint Mary down 2-0.

Coming out of halftime, the Spires made adjustments to get back into the game. Eight minutes in, Morgan Young found the back of the net to put the Spires on the board, trailing 2-1. Kylie Wilson scored a goal of her own to tie the game at 2-2 ten minutes after Youngs. Saint Mary had the momentum at that point and continued to press hard for the lead. Soon Young would assist Katy St. Martin for the go-ahead goal with two minutes remaining to help seal the 3-2 comeback victory.
