Spires Fall to UMKC in Spring Opener

Merriam, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Tennis opened their Spring campaign against the University of Missouri- Kansas City on Saturday, resulting in a 7-0 loss. The Spires are now 0-1 overall in team matches this year. 

In the doubles matches, the pair of Tracy Llamas and Cortlyn Wolfe came close to beating the Roos but fell short, losing 6-3. Shannon Fin and Mia Rojas were also to play UMKC hard but were not able to win the set as Saint Mary dropped the lone team point.

The Roos continued to outscore the Spires in the singles matches as well. Llamas again did not go down quickly, scoring two set points before dropping the set.

The Spires will be on the road to play Missouri Baptist at 9 a.m. on February 9 in St. Louis, Missouri.
