Women's Tennis Wins Second Straight KCAC Dual

Wichita, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's tennis team traveled to play the Friends Falcons on Thursday, resulting in a 4-3 win. The Spires are now 5-7 overall and 2-1 in KCAC play.

 

Doubles

The pair of Tracy Llamas and Cortlyn Wolfe got Saint Mary on the board, winning their doubles match 6-2 over the Falcons. Shannon Finn and Mia Rojas secure the lone team point in the double matches with a 6-3 win over their opponents. 

 

Singles

Llamas had a hard-fought singles match, winning the second set 7-6 after dropping the first set but falling in the tiebreaker. Wolfe had the first singles win of the day, beating her opponent 7-5 and 6-2 to give Saint Mary a 2-1 lead. Rojas put the Spires just one win away from a team win after beating her opponent 6-3 and 6-2, giving Saint Mary a 3-2 lead over the Falcons. Rachel Rothmeyer put the dual on ice for USM in a 6-3 and 7-5 win to take the match and the dual.
