Women's Tennis Drops Season Finale to McPherson
McPherson, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Tennis team traveled to play McPherson College for their season finale, resulting in a 5-2 loss.
Doubles
Saint Mary was swept in the doubles matches to open the team dual. The pair of Shannon Finn and Mia Rojas nearly beat their opponents but fell 6-2, surrendering the lone doubles point, and entered the singles matches down 1-0.
Singles
The Spires were able to get two team points during the singles matches coming from Tracy Llamas and Cortlyn Wolfe. Llamas beat her opponent 6-3 and 6-2, preserving her conference singles winning streak to eight and making it a 1-1 dual. Wolfe followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win over her opponent as well to make the team score 2-1 in favor of Saint Mary. However, the Bulldogs were able to string together four more singles match wins to make the final 5-2.
The Spires finished the regular season with an overall record of 11-10 and a KCAC record of 8-3 in their first proper season of competition. They will continue their season in the KCAC postseason tournament beginning on Thursday, April 25, in Lindsborg, Kansas.
