Women's Tennis Falls in First Round of KCAC Tournament

Salina, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Tennis team competed in their first ever KCAC Post Season Tournament on Thursday, resulting in a round one loss to the Bethel Threshers 4-2. The Spires finished the year with an overall record of 11-10 in the Spring season and an 8-3 conference record. 

 

Doubles

Saint Mary was able to secure the lone doubles point for an early 1-0 lead over Bethel. The pair of Tracy Llamas and Coutrlyn Wolfe beat the Thresher opponents 6-2 for the win. Shannon Finn and Mia Rojas got the second win over their opponents 6-3 and gave all the momentum to the Spires.

 

Singles

The momentum shifted in the singles matches after the Threshers put together two quick wins, making it 2-1 in favor of Bethel. Wolfe had the first singles win of the day, winning 6-0 and 6-2 to tie things up at two points apiece. However, Bethel was able to rally with two more wins to secure the 4-2 victory over the Spires.
