Spires Get Two NAIA Standards at Washburn Rust Buster

Topeka, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Indoor Track and Field team competed in the Washburn University Rust Buster this Saturday. 

 

In the 60m event, Gretchen Raney, Samantha Colson, and Lexi Wardlow finished in the top 20 of the event. Raney and Wardlow also had top-fifteen finishes in the 200m event. 

 

In the distance events, Maddy Walter-Sherretts and Kate Madsen had top ten finishes in the 800m event. The Spires had three runners finish in the top ten of the one-mile event. Riley Hiebert took third place with a time of 5:07.21, which is the fastest time in the conference and the fifth fastest time in the nation. Reagan Hiebert and Madsen also had top-ten finishes in the event. Riley Hiebert also took third in the 3000m event, with a time of 10:19.21. Her time in this event was fast enough for an NAIA B standard.

 

The 4x400m relay team of Raney, Wardlow, Carissa Martin, and Jane DuTeil took third place and nearly hit the NAIA B standard but fell just sort. Martin also hit a mark of 10.59m in the triple jump event.
