Saint Mary Hits Two NAIA Standards at Spires Distance Carnival

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Track & Field team hosted the Spires Distance Carnival on Friday.

 

Carlie Gregg had the first win of the day for the Spires, taking first place in the 800m event with a time of 2:19.61. Right behind Gregg was Carly Holadia in fourth place with a time of 2:24.53, and Abigail White finished fifth with a time of 2:25.45. Saint Mary had three runners finish in the top five in the 1500m event, with Reagan Hiebert taking second place with a time of 4:44.63. Maddy Walter-Sherretts took third with a time of 4:46.72, and Josie Tyrrel rounded out the top five running a 4:48.74. 

 

In the 3000m Steeplechase, Riley Hiebert hit an NAIA "A" standard with a time of 10:54.81 and took first place. Kate Madsen hit the second NAIA standard of the night in the 5000m event, running a 17:32.56 and coming in first place. Behind Madsen was Hannah Showalter, who came in fourth place with a time of 18:00.91. The 4x800m team took first place with a time of 9:31.42 and hit an NAIA "B" standard.

The Spires will conclude the weekend with the Quad Meet Challenge at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Charles J. Berkel Memorial Stadium.
