Spires Hit Multiple Standards in Busy Weekend

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Outdoor Track and Field teams competed at the Emporia State Relays and the Wash U Distance Carnival this weekend. 

 

Emporia Meet

The 4x100 relay team of Samantha Colson, Ziara Spencer, Lexi Wardlow, and Gretchen Raney ran a 47.32 and finished in third place. Their time is now the sixth fastest time in the NAIA. In the 100m hurdles event, Jane Dutiel had a top ten finish, running a 15.37; her time is the 25th fastest time in the nation. Colson had a top-ten finish in the 100m event, running 12.24 and taking tenth place. Raney performed well in the 200m event, with a time of 24.69 and a second-place finish. In the field events, Carissa Martin came in eighth place in the triple jump event, with a mark of 10.61 meters. 

 

Wash U Distance Carnival

Reagan Hiebert and Maddy Walter-Sherretts hit NAIA "A" standards in the 5000m event. Hiebert took 11th place with a time of 16.53.53, and Walter-Sherretts finished with a 17:27.59. Riley Hiebert hit an NAIA "B" standard with a time of 17:38.95 in the same event. Later, in the 10000m event, Kate Madsen broke the school record by running a 35:38.70 and taking 13th place. Her time was also fast enough to hit the NAIA "A" standard and is the fastest time in the KCAC and the fifth fastest in the nation.
